This service covers kitchen exhaust fans (ceiling or wall-mounted, excluding range hoods) and the backdraft damper flaps connected to the communal exhaust duct, focusing on removing grease sludge from the external blades and the area around the damper opening. Technicians remove the fan cover to soak and manually scrub the blades, metal safety grille, and surrounding frame. They also wipe away sticky grease from the edges of the backdraft damper flaps to ensure smooth opening and closing without obstruction from gummy residue.
Please provide details regarding the fan’s mounting method (e.g., screw-fixed) and the location of the backdraft damper’s access panel. During the on-site visit, we use stable ladders and lay down protective drop cloths on the floor. Cleaned components are air-dried before reinstallation, followed by a manual test to ensure smooth blade rotation and proper damper closure. After the service, airflow during exhaust is smoother, and the issue of odors backflowing from the communal flue may be alleviated (due to the valve flap seating more snugly). We recommend having this cleaning performed every six months, though we do not claim it will “completely block cooking fumes” or provide “permanent maintenance-free” results.
